What Decode does

Decode follows the way a video actually gets made — script, edit, package, publish, measure — and gives you evidence at each stage.

You give it: Your script, working title, thumbnail, and (optionally) your narration audio.
You get back: A predicted retention range, a grade for each element, and pacing notes measured against your own best- and worst-retained videos.

You get back: The differences that actually separate your strongest videos from your weakest ones — structure, opening, subject, length, packaging.

You get back: Specific changes, each one citing the videos on your channel that support it. If Decode cannot point to evidence, it does not make the recommendation.

What Decode accesses, and why

You create a Decode account with your email address — no Google account required. Separately, when you connect your YouTube channel, you are asked to grant the following. Everything Decode does with these permissions is reading — it never uploads, edits, or deletes anything on your channel.

To show revenue and RPM on each video's detail page, alongside its retention and watch time, so you can see which videos earned and not only which were watched.
youtube.force-ssl	The caption tracks on your published videos.	To read what was actually said in your videos, so pacing and structure can be compared across your catalog.

About the captions permission. Google will show you a warning that Decode can see, edit, and delete your videos and captions. That wording comes from the permission itself, not from what Decode does. YouTube offers no view-only way to read captions — the caption permission is bundled with editing rights, so any tool that reads your captions has to ask for it. Decode reads captions and nothing else with it. It has no upload, edit, or delete function anywhere in the product.

Yours to revoke. You can withdraw access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, or ask us to delete your account and all associated data by emailing support@decodevideo.com. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.

Decode's own numbers are labeled as Decode's. Predicted retention, element grades, and pacing notes are produced by Decode's analysis. They are not YouTube metrics and do not come from YouTube. Where Decode shows real YouTube Analytics figures, they are shown as YouTube reports them.
